This handcrafted evocation made its debut about twenty years ago, modelled on a production 750 S to which it owes its frame and engine design, and is inspired by Grand Prix machines of the late 50's which saw John Surtees shine in the limelight while riding an MV Agusta. From 1956 to 1960, John Surtees snatched four titles in the 500cc class and three in the 350cc class. He left the motorcycle Grand Prix racing in order to compete in single-seaters championships and was crowned F1 World Champion in 1964 in a Ferrari 158!
As a tribute to the greatly talented John Surtees, only 5 units of this recreation were manufactured. It was interestingly modelled on a real 750 S. Its four-cylinder engine with dual shaft was derived from the Grand Prix 500 engine; no better way to keep up with the aesthetics of Grand Prix racing machines. It gave up the drive shaft and cardan shaft transmission in favour of a chain, and is equipped with an impressive 300 mm Fontana drum brake, a 48 mm Marzocchi fork and four Dell'Orto SSI 29 carburettors. Registro MV describes this machine, which has never been restored, as a "good replica". The solid nature of this reconstruction and the quality parts used constitute a real opportunity for the collector.
